Best time to buy a tractor

is there a tractor sale season? like new cars, which go on sale from august to december to make room for next years models. also are off lease or rental return tractors available? where would i look, local dealers say that they have no used compacts and dont get many. thank you for all your help. brian

Brian,[Welcome to tractors in cyberspace!] In 3-season areas, winters are long, cold and lonely for tractor dealers. Chances are you can make a good deal then. Otherwise, as with cars, watch for the change in model year and make a deal on last year's model, preferably a slightly used demo or rental machine. You don't say what part of the country you're in, but most dealers who say they don't have used tractors available are lying or not trying. Look around; find a dealer you like. In this area, Trader publications are a good source for dealer and private party used tractor sales. You can check their website (below), but their weekly magazines, available around here at convenience stores, are much more complete. -Ken ....

My dealer tells me he sees alot of interest in the spring and fall. Fall because of people trading off the one they nursed through the summer. Spring because of people getting equipment at the beginning of warm weather. If looking for a deal, my guess is to stay away from those two seasons.Lee ....
